Vice President – Wilf Hurd

Wilf Hurd was born and raised in British Columbia; he has resided primarily in White Rock and Langley.  Mr. Hurd was elected to the British Columbia Legislature in the October, 1991, election as the MLA for South Surrey-White Rock and served from then until 1997. During that time he served on numerous Legislative Committees, including Agriculture; Forests, Lands and Parks; Aboriginal Affairs; and Natural Resources. His has worked in journalism and creative writing,  speechwriting, detailed proposal writing, government relations strategic plans, correspondence and connecting with government. His community involvement includes serving on several committees

Judy taught physical Educationjudith-h and English for 10 years. While bringing up her family, she volunteered in her community, and worked as editor, writer and broadcaster for local publications. First elected in 1983 as a City Councillor in Surrey, she served for 25 consecutive years, retiring in 2008. Having served the Liberal Party for 40 years and having worked in every federal election, she ran as a candidate in 2016 narrow losing in a two way race in south Surrey – White Rock. An energetic and  passionate Liberal best describes Judy. She is the SLCBC Membership/Liaison Chair.

Dr. Stanwood is a longtime professor of English, now Emeritus, at UBC, with special interest in the period of Shakespeare. He received the UBC Alumni Association Faculty Citation Award for community service, in part recognizing twenty-five years of leadership in Scouts Canada. A delegate to National Liberal conventions in Montreal and Vancouver, he is currently a member of the executive of Vancouver Quadra EDA.
