The Liberal Party Seniors Commission is planning for a grassroots movement from seniors across Canada in every EDA. Delta has already formed a committee called the Delta Liberal Elders and we are the pioneers for this idea. As other riding districts are forming their “elder” groups, we have already got the ball rolling with an event coming up on November 10th in South Delta.
The Delta Liberal Elders have booked the Ladner Community Center for Thursday afternoon from 2 – 4 to hold a town hall meeting with guest speaker Hon. Carla Qualtrough to give us a progress report on the campaign promises made to seniors. This is an event the committee will host in South Delta for ALL seniors with another one planned for North Delta in the Spring and is not a Liberal Party event.
The town hall meeting will also have a panel to include the BC Advocate for Seniors, as well as provincial and municipal representatives who will be invited to speak to the progress made for seniors at their level of government and answer questions from the audience.
We are looking for volunteers to help with this event by giving ideas on topics of discussion, suggestions, distributing invitations/flyers, greeting attendees and to help set up the coffee and water. The Parks and Rec for Delta will be setting up the chairs etc. for us.
